About This Discipline
Art photography is the broadest and most experimental of all photographic disciplines. It encompasses conceptual work, surrealism, abstraction, social commentary, and avant-garde experimentation. It is photography that asks questions, challenges assumptions, and refuses easy answers.
The lineage is extraordinary: Alfred Stieglitz, who fought to establish photography as a legitimate fine art; Man Ray's surrealist rayographs and solarizations; Cindy Sherman's transformative self-portraits that interrogate identity and representation; Diane Arbus's unflinching portraits of society's margins; Hiroshi Sugimoto's meditative long-exposure studies of time and light.
Our art photography sessions are open-ended creative collaborations — where concept, narrative, and visual experimentation take center stage. Come with an idea, or come with an open mind. Either way, we will create something extraordinary together.
I never have taken a picture I've intended. They're always better or worse.
